winter wonderland

while trying to enjoy all that the city has to offer during these dreary winter months steve and i decided to give ice skating a whirl last weekend. sidenote: this is where most people would post a cutesie little picture of themselves gliding along the ice hand in hand. and actually, that was my plan...keyword: was. let me explain. steve is such an athletic guy, except when it comes to anything dealing with balance and/or coordination. don't get me wrong, i'm no nancy kerrigan, but i am able to do the basic starting, stopping, and a little twirling here and there. so i knew that this would be an adventure as we paid for our skates and 2 hours of rink time. after 15 minutes and 1 very rough lap consisting of lots of flailing arms & wall hugging steve needed a break. our 2 hours of "fun" soon turned into 45 minutes of sore knees, feet, and ankles that required frequent breaks. so there is no cutsie picture mainly because i skated solo for a majority of the time. so instead here's a snapshot of the two of us from the bleachers, resting. good news: afterwards we went to the ram for our favorite dessert which in turn, made all lower body aches and pains fade away. hopefully there's a ram in paoli, indiana...as we're going to try skiing this wknd and will likely need a sweet treat to help alleviate the pain that i'm sure is to come!

lastly, yet another picture not included is steve with his birthday cake. why? well, i'm a little embarrassed to say that i placed the wrong number of candles in the shape of the wrong age...whoops. apparently steve is 28 and holding. regardless, happy 29th birthday steve!

  1. that is awesome! if you had asked mom, she would have told you how terrible steve was (is?) on a bike. perhaps he's improved. i don't think either of us got a lot of balance from our parents. A for effort though. Have fun skiing, no broken legs, okay?

  2. Hahaha...I love reading your blog! I always laugh! Although I think it's at Steve's expense most of the time. But as long as he doesn't care, I'll keep laughing. :)
